Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a form of healing through manipulation of ki, the Japanese version of Chi (Life Force). Rei means spirit in Japanese, so reiki literally means spirit life force.

Reiki was popularized by Mikao Usui (1865-1926). After fasting and meditating for several weeks, he began seeing symbols and hearing voices, giving him "the keys to healing."

Like their counterparts in traditional Chinese medicine who use Acupuncture, as well as their counterparts in the West who use Therapeutic Touch (TT), practitioners of Reiki believe that health and disease are a matter of the life force being disrupted. The universe is full of energy as quantum-physicists will confirm and can be felt and manipulated. Reiki healers differ from acupuncturists in that they do not try to unblock a person's ki, but to channel the ki of the universe so that the person heals.
The channeling is done with the hands, and, like TT no physical massaging is necessary since ki flows through the body of the healer into the patient via the air. The Reiki Master is able to draw upon the energy of the universe and increases his or her own energy while performing a healing. Nevertheless a Reiki Master would never claim, that he or she performed the healing, but that the "higher power" does the healing. Many Reiki Praktishioners feel the presence of assisting beings or certain color frequencies to increase the Reiki power. Most prakticioners therefor see themselves more as a channel to direkt the healing flow than the power who does the healing.

Ki is channeled into "diseased" individuals for "rebalancing."

Sometimes a healing will be permanent, sometimes it lasts only for a period of time. Karmic implications might be the cause of that. How can a person fulfill their learning lessons, if the cause of learning has been taken away?

Therefore most Reiki Praktitioners always ask whether they are allowed to work with the client and whether the work is conducive to the highest good of the person.

Sometimes they know, that they can only support the healing process, but that the client has to want the be healed from deep within, because every illness or misguided energy has it's cause and purpose.

Besides the support in healing physical and emotional illnesses, Reiki can be used to support
- the elimination of habits, behavioral patterns and addiction,
- intentions and affirmations to help clients co-create positive thought forms,
- sending positive energy to specific points in time for healing of past trauma, conflicts and challenges
- the future for increased success in projects, goals, and dealing with concerns and situations.
